24/7 Cat and Dog Hospitalization

Around-the-Clock Monitoring and Support

At our independent veterinary network, we understand how stressful it can be when your beloved pet needs additional care. That’s why we are equipped to provide overnight hospitalization for cats and dogs requiring close monitoring and treatment.

Our compassionate and skilled team ensures your pet receives the best care to set them on the path to recovery.

What Conditions May Require Hospitalization?

There are a variety of conditions and diagnoses that may require overnight hospitalization, including (but not limited to):

  • Toxin exposure affecting the nervous system

  • Diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) or dangerously low blood sugar

  • Urinary obstruction

  • Post-anesthesia monitoring

What to Expect When Your Pet
Stays with Us

Our team walks you through every step of the process, so you feel informed and reassured while your pet is in our care. Here’s what you can expect during your pet’s hospitalization:

1. Reviewing Detailed Treatment Plan

Before we begin, we’ll review a detailed treatment plan and an estimate with you. A deposit is collected to ensure that everything is as transparent as possible.

2. Signing the Consent Form

As part of your pet’s admission, we’ll ask you to sign a consent form that includes choosing whether you’d like us to perform CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) if your pet’s heart or breathing stops.

We know this can be a difficult decision. Our team will explain what CPR involves, potential outcomes, and answer any questions, so you can make the choice that feels right for you and your pet. Whether you choose full intervention or a Do Not Resuscitate (DNR) order, your wishes will be clearly documented and respectfully followed.

3. Communication & Updates During Hospitalization

We know how important it is to feel informed when your pet is in our care. From the start, we take time to answer your questions, explain your pet’s treatment plan, and let you know how and when we’ll stay in touch.

If there’s ever a change in your pet’s condition, we’ll contact you right away. You’re also welcome to call us for updates at any time. For the most detailed conversations, we recommend calling before 6 AM/PM or after 9 AM/PM, when our team has more availability to speak with you.

4. Making Your Pet Comfortable

Your pet will be settled into a clean, cozy kennel or run with comfortable blankets, pillows, food, and water to keep them relaxed and happy. We speak gently, offer affection when appropriate, and work to reduce stress through individualized comfort measures.

Some pets enjoy watching calming videos on tablets, while others find peace in the sound of birdsong or soft, soothing music played nearby. When needed, a team member may sit with them or hand-feed them to encourage them to eat. Every detail reflects the same love and compassion we give our own pets.

5. Tracking Care with Our Whiteboard System

We use a digital whiteboard to coordinate your pet’s care in real time. It includes details like diagnosis, medications, treatment times, feeding schedules, and any special needs.

This system keeps our entire medical team on the same page—ensuring that every task is assigned, completed, and monitored throughout your pet’s stay. It’s one of the key ways we deliver consistent, attentive care 24/7.

Discharge Process Bringing Your Pet Home

When your pet is ready to come home, we want the process to be as smooth as possible. Here’s what you can expect during discharge:

1. Setting Up Pick-Up Time

Once your pet is medically ready to go home, we can arrange their discharge at a time that works best for you

Please note that since our hospitalization fees are billed hourly, the exact pick-up time may affect your final invoice. We’ll always do our best to be transparent and help you plan a discharge that balances both convenience and cost.

2. Reviewing the Discharge Summary

You’ll receive a detailed Discharge Summary outlining your pet’s diagnosis, treatments, medications, at-home care instructions, and any recommended follow-up.

We also send a copy of this summary directly to your primary care veterinarian to ensure seamless continuity of care. That way, your regular vet is fully informed and ready to support your pet’s ongoing recovery.

3. Finalizing the Invoice

We’ll present the final invoice and process any outstanding payments. To learn more about our financing options, visit our financing page.

4. Preparing Your Pet for Discharge

We’ll prepare your pet for the trip home by removing any catheters, providing an e-collar if necessary, and ensuring you have all prescribed medications in hand.

5. Reuniting with Your Pet

The moment you’ve been waiting for! Your pet will be brought to you in the hospital lobby or a private exam room—tail wags, happy purrs, and all—ready to head home where they belong.

Did you know we offer a wide range of services to treat your pet when the worst happens? From laser therapy to in-house diagnostic services, we’re here for your pet’s emergency needs.

How will I get updates about my pet?

We know it’s never easy to be apart from your pet, especially during a medical emergency. Rest assured, if there’s any change in your pet’s condition, our team will reach out right away. You're also welcome to call for an update at any time.

For the most in-depth information, we suggest calling before 6 AM/PM or after 9 AM/PM, when our team has a little more availability to talk.

Can I visit my pet during hospitalization?

Visits are evaluated on a case-by-case basis depending on your pet’s condition and treatment schedule. Please call us to see what is possible.

What treatments are included during hospitalization?

The treatments provided depend on your pet’s specific condition and diagnosis. Common treatments include IV fluids, pain management, wound care, oxygen therapy, in-house diagnostics and imaging.
