What is considered a medical emergency?

A medical emergency is any condition that’s life-threatening or requires immediate attention. Common emergencies we see include 

  • Trauma, such as being hit by a vehicle or attacked by another animal 
  • Ingesting toxic foods or substances 
  • Increased breathing rate or difficulty breathing 
  • Vomiting or diarrhea in puppies or kittens 
  • Repeated vomiting or multiple episodes of diarrhea in adult dogs
