Do I need an appointment for emergency care?

No appointment is needed. At EVCC Holland, we’re open 24/7 and always ready to accept walk-ins, because pet emergencies don’t follow a schedule. If you suspect your pet needs urgent care, don’t wait—bring them in right away. 

What is considered a medical emergency?

A medical emergency is any condition that poses an immediate threat to your pet’s health or life. Some of the most common emergencies we see include: 

  • Trauma, such as being hit by a vehicle or attacked by another animal 
  • Ingesting toxic foods or substances 
  • Increased breathing rate or difficulty breathing 
  • Vomiting or diarrhea in puppies or kittens 
  • Repeated vomiting or multiple episodes of diarrhea in adult dogs 
  • Persistent retching 
  • Blood in urine or difficulty urinating 
  • Red, swollen, or painful eyes 
  • Swollen or distended abdomen

Call us immediately and bring your pet in for an exam. If you can, bring along the packaging or a sample of what was ingested. This can help us determine the best course of treatment even quicker.
