What is considered a medical emergency?

A medical emergency refers to any condition that poses a life-threatening risk or requires immediate attention. Some of the most common emergencies we treat include: 

  • Trauma, such as being hit by a vehicle or attacked by another animal 
  • Ingesting toxic foods or substances 
  • Increased breathing rate or difficulty breathing 
  • Vomiting or diarrhea in puppies or kittens
