Sean A.

Class of 2024

"This was the best externship! My mentors were always willing to answer any questions that I had and would challenge me clinically. I was able to take on a few cases myself under their supervision and assisted quite a bit in numerous emergency procedures. Everyone I worked with was so supportive, helpful, and wonderful to work with!"

Ben F.

Class of 2022

“NCVEC gave me a real, practical experience. The case load and knowledgeable nurses and doctors allowed me to bridge many gaps between lectures and clinical practice. From practicing interpersonal conversational skills and technical competencies, all the way to developing basic surgical techniques, I walked out of NCVEC feeling more confident in myself. They allow you to work as much as you want within your comfort level, but encourage you to step out of that comfort zone with them.”

Samuel D.

Class of 2024

“I participated in a working externship with North Central Veterinary Emergency Center during the summer of 2021 between my first and second years of vet school. The entire team was accommodating and engaged me in hands-on learning. I observed and assisted in various procedures including radiographs, blood draws, diagnostics, a cystotomy surgery, an endoscopy to remove a foreign body, and laceration repair. I highly recommend this externship for students interested in gaining emergency experience.”

Amanda R.

Shannon C.

Class of 2023

“I completed a 2 week externship with NCVEC and I could not have asked for a better experience. From my very first day, they allowed me to work hands-on with patients by performing physical exams and formulating diagnostic and treatment plans. I was also given ample opportunities to work on clinical skills, as well as assist in surgical procedures. All of the doctors and staff were incredibly welcoming, willing to teach, and made me feel very at home during my time there. I would highly recommend this externship to any veterinary student!”
