Emergency Pet Euthanasia at EVCC
Making Farewells Peaceful
At Emergency Veterinary Care Centers (EVCC), we understand how incredibly difficult it is to say goodbye to a beloved pet. Unfortunately, there are times when all treatment options have been explored, and humane euthanasia becomes the most compassionate choice.
For those moments, we are here to provide support, guidance, and care to ensure that this emotional experience is as peaceful as possible for both you and your pet.
If you have any questions about euthanasia services or aftercare options, please give us a call. We're here to help you.
What to Expect
Our goal is to make the process of saying goodbye to your pet as smooth and comforting as possible. Here’s what you can expect at our hospital:
Our veterinarians and team members are pet owners just like you. We will answer all your questions, give you the information you need to make an informed decision, and provide guidance every step of the way.
We know how important it is to have a safe and quiet place for this difficult moment. Our dedicated comfort rooms allow you to have privacy, so you can spend meaningful time with your pet.
Prepared with your pet’s favorite treats and Hershey’s kisses, our priority is to make it as beautiful and peaceful as possible.
Euthanasia at EVCC is a completely pain-free process for your pet. Before administering euthanasia, we provide sedation to help your pet relax and fall into a deep, everlasting sleep.
Afterwards, we will give you as much private time as you need to say your goodbyes. When you’re ready, we’ll walk you through your aftercare options, such as communal cremation, receiving your pet’s ashes in an urn, or having a foam paw impression created at no extra cost.
FAQs About Emergency Euthanasia for Dogs and Cats
Making the decision to say goodbye is never easy, and often one of the most heartbreaking choices a pet parent will face. The key factor to consider is your pet’s overall quality of life. Are they experiencing pain that can’t be managed? Have they lost interest in food, water, or interaction? Are they no longer able to enjoy the activities that once brought them joy?
You don’t have to face this decision alone. Our team is here to support you with empathy, guidance, and honest conversation.
Absolutely not. Your pet will first receive sedation to ensure they are completely relaxed and in a deep sleep. The euthanasia procedure itself is peaceful and pain-free.
Yes, you are more than welcome to stay with your pet and comfort them during the process. If you need time to say goodbye privately before or after, just let us know. We’re here to accommodate everything you need.
We offer several aftercare options, including communal cremation, individual cremation with the return of ashes in an urn, or keepsakes like paw prints. Speak with our team to help choose what’s best for you.
Why Families Choose EVCC
for End-of-Life Care
“When my 11-year-old pug, Cujo—my best friend—unexpectedly became ill and passed away, I brought him to EVCC Westville for cremation. The staff were professional, respectful, and handled the situation with care. I appreciated how they treated both me and Cujo during a very difficult time. 06/27/09 – 03/09/21."
"Wish I could give it 10 stars! This past weekend, my family and I had to euthanize our cat. I believe she suffered a stroke. I was able to check in online on our way to the clinic and was promptly seen on arrival... They really know how to triage their patients and care for not only animals but people too. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your compassion and care during this challenging, unexpected time."
"With a sad, sad heart, we had to take our dog in on Mother’s Day for euthanasia. She was 17 years old, not happy, and in a lot of pain with terrible arthritis in her back legs. Even though, we were still doubting our decision. The vet nurse did an awesome job of explaining everything to us and providing us with an objective quiz that we were able to walk through and answer questions about our pup's quality of life...
The comfort room was a nice place to spend our last moments together, complete with some treats that our puppy loved. In addition to everything I’ve already mentioned, the company that completed the cremation was excellent with their communication and we had our girl back home within a week. I also appreciated the hand signed sympathy card that we received a few days later. They made an impossible situation bearable."
"Where to begin... My son and I brought our Romeo boy after being hit by a car. We thought he was going to make it. Instead, we got to enjoy him for 8 days before things took a wrong turn. Sadly, we had to make the choice of putting our beloved boy down.
Everyone was amazing and understanding. Days after, we received a sympathy card signed by the entire staff. As someone who loves all her dogs and would do anything for them, I have to say this place made everything much easier during difficult times. I will forever be thankful for this place and the amazing staff."
